, america's cup, hardly strictly bluegrass, and play-off baseball. we'll check the traffic and we'll go to the ballpark live. but we want to start where we have seen the biggest crowds so far and that's san francisco's northern waterfront. sharon chin is live on the marina green. sharon. >> reporter: ann, we have a sea of people here at the marina green enjoying fleet week and people saying it wasn't too bad getting here, but getting home could be a problem. >>> reporter: the big show, the blue angels, thundering above marina green just minutes away from the america's cup yacht races along the embarcadero. the embarcadero has been a traffic hotspot all day. part of the reason the right- hand lane from washington to bay street is off limits to cars reserved for bicycles and emergency vehicles. now, congestion is expected on the golden gate and bay bridges hasn't panned out. traffic did slow down though outside of the bluegrass festival at golden gate park but overall, spectators heeded the city's call to take advantage of mass transit's expanded service
airshow and america's cup have wrapped up for the day. the second day of hardly strictly bluegrass ends in about 30 minutes. so now it's all eyes on at&t park and that's where we find cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington. >> reporter: there is so much excitement here right now. you can hear people behind me here the chants of let's go, giants, from the ballpark. we just saw some fireworks, some fighter jets overhead and more than 41,000 fans are piling into at&t park for game one of the play-offs. they tell me a win is very important because it could set the tone for the post-season. now, this is a national league division series, the giants versus the reds. the giants have home field advantage for the first two games which are today and tomorrow. then they will head to cincinnati for the remaining games of a best-of-five series. pitcher matt cain will start on the mound tonight. these teams have faced each other 7 times this season with the reds winning four of the games. giants fans are confident that san francisco will win and are hoping for a repeat of 2010 when they went all the way. >

and strictly bluegrass. how would we calculate additional costs for police, fire, other infrastructure when we have multiple events going on that weekend? >> i think the aggregation from my perspective was around the spectators, what they are doing. i think in terms of america's cup proposition, if what america's cup is doing is requiring new efforts beyond what would be provided for fleet week, that is what we want to see in our being. for example america's cup will do some activating on marina green. awe we know fleet week has the bulk of the main park. so to the extent there are rec park costs for overseeing that build or, you know, other security things we have to stretch down, one other thing we are doing is bicycle valet. not something fleet week has done in the past but something we have in the america cup people plan. that is something we are expecting our budget to pay for, not fleet week. it is things different and kind from what people understood. those are ones we want to come to us. >> i apologize that i don't actually know this but has fleet week usually taken place with strictly

the america's cup world series. the giants playoffs, fleet week, and the hardly strictly bluegrass festival. we have team coverage this morning to cover everything you need to know to plan ahead if you are going to visit the city. ktvu channel 2 reporter alex savidge has more on the big changes transit agencies are making to accommodate the crowds. first let's check in with tara moriarty who is is in the city with a look at what the city is doing to prepare for the streets that will be jammed. >> reporter: we are here along the embarcadero. this is where the official store for the america's cup is. there are going to be quarter finals today and then more racing this weekend. expected to draw 40,000 people to the bay. it's one of many events happening this weekend. every member of the police force will be out. this will be closing -- they will be closing one northbound lane along the embarcadero between the ferry building and bay street to allow emergency vehicles access. city leaders say it's a practice run for the big america's cup event next year where more than three million people are e

's the 12th year of the hardly strictly bluegrass festival at golden gate park. organizers say it attracts a quarter of a million people. it's one of the many draws to the city this weekend. they're expecting 100,000 in attendance to fleet week. that's more than 300,000 people each day. >> it's scary. everyone said over a million people would be coming through town. i mean i love the blue angels and fleet week, but i'll just have to look up from here. >> reporter: these bluegrass fans also have giants fever. >> it's going to be a nightmare. >> reporter: they plan to leave parking out of the equation. >> we'll go back to our parked cars about a mile or two from here and a hop muni and go down to the game. >> reporter: b.a.r.t has hooked up a dozen extra trains and called in extra station agents. and even with dozens of additional muni routes, these buss were jam-packed. >> it kind of makes for an exciting weekend. you know, there is a lot of stuff going on, and that's why san francisco is great. >> reporter: while it's not great for drivers, it's more the merrier for just about everyone els
